Jesse Bravo’s passion for sports car racing provided him with yet another outlet for his photographic skills. While other drivers just got nervous in the pits, he got some memorable shots of the classic driving heroes. Film actor Steve McQueen was a favorite driver who enjoyed coming out for a day of racing at Del Mar. Bravo had the opportunity to photograph the first Monterey Gran Prix in 1963 where he met drivers such as Jimmy Clark, Dan Gurney, Richie Ginther, Dave McDonald, Ken Miles, Maston Gregory, Lloyd Ruby, Graham Hill and others.
